Siemens Low Voltage Motors - Installation
The Siemens electric motor is easy to install and modify in every frame size. The terminal box is easy to access and the housing architecture allows adaptation to the most varied applications.
The terminal boxes can be swiveled in 90° steps, and the motor feet can be flexibly mounted depending on the motor version. An encoder, brake and external fan can be added with minimum effort. The flexible housing architecture results in a reduced variety of parts, simplifying inventory management.

Siemens High Voltage Motors
From Siemens you can obtain a wide range of types extensively and finely graduated. Our motors have been designed for rated voltages from 2 to 11 kV (as system with SIMOVERT MASTERDRIVES, also 690 V) as well as rated frequencies of 50 and 60 Hz.
Motors with pole numbers of between 2 and 12 are available as standard. H-compact is suitable for use in Zone 2 (non-sparking). Versions with degree of protection EEx e “increased safety” and EEX pe “pressurized” are listed in the catalog for Zone 1.

As a supplier of complete drive systems and technology, Siemens can offer you a wide range of frequency inverters: the MICROMASTER family. Thanks to their modular design, all the inverter units can be used in a variety of applications and are extremely flexible in use. With power ratings ranging from 0.12 to 250 kW (0.16 to 300 HP), they can readily be adapted to new requirements without any great effort.
Our frequency inverters combine the highest technical quality with versatile functionality: from the basic MICROMASTER 410 for simple applications to the high-performance MICROMASTER 440 with sensorless vector control and a power range up to 250 kW (300 HP). Each individual member of our MICROMASTER family is characterized by its exceptionally simple handling: from installation and commissioning to operator control. Later adaptation to new requirements is simplicity itself.
Each frequency inverter belonging to the family allows flexible circuit connection of inputs and outputs for optimum link-up of a broad variety of digital and analog signals. With its default factory settings, it is immediately ready for use.

Sinamics G150 drive converter cabinets units are designed for use in variable speed drives in machine construction and plant engineering.
They have been specially tuned to the requirement of drives with quadratic and constant load characteristics, with medium performance requirements and without regenerative feedback. The control accuracy of the sensorless vector control is suitable for most applications, and additional actually speed value encoders are therefore superfluous.
However, the Sinamics G150 converters are optionally available with an encoder evaluator in order to handle application that require an encoder for plant specific reasons. Sinamics drive converter cabinet units offer an economic drive solution that can be matched to customers specific requirements by adding from the wide range of available components and options.

ROBICON Perfect Harmony Power Control Systems
In the ROBICON Perfect Harmony, a series of low voltage cells are linked together to build the medium voltage power output of the drive system. With this topology, the drive can be scaled precisely for a very wide range of voltage and output power. Additionally, the ROBICON Perfect Harmony offers increased availability because of its modular design and ability to bypass any one cell during operation while maintaining the full output voltage.
Furthermore, the integral transformer with phase-shifted secondaries provides 18-pulse or better input harmonic cancellation with a power factor above .95 under any operating conditions. This eliminates the need for input harmonic filters or power factor compensation, while completely avoiding any common-mode voltages from being imposed on the motor. The quality of the output voltage is so close to perfect sine-wave shape that motors of literally any type – old or new, low-speed or high-speed – can be operated without any additional stress. Issues related to dV/dt, overheating and increased torsion vibrations are a thing of the past.

Sirius Switch Contactors
The SIRIUS generation of switch contactors is a complete, modular system family, logically designed right down to the last detail, from the basic units to the accessories.

3RV1 circuit-breakers are compact, current limiting circuitbreakers which are optimized for load feeders. The circuitbreakers are used for switching and protecting three-phase induction motors of up to 45 kW at AC 400 V and for other loads with rated currents of up to 100 A.
If a short-circuit occurs, the short-circuit releases of 3RV1 circuitbreakers isolate the faulty load feeder from the mains supply and thus prevent further damage.
Circuit-breakers with a short-circuit breaking capacity of 50 kA or 100 kA are virtually short-circuit proof at a voltage of AC 400 V, since higher short-circuit currents are not to be expected in practice. Motor protection The tripping characteristics of 3RV10/3RV11 circuit-breakers are designed mainly to protect three-phase induction motors.
The circuit-breakers are therefore also referred to as motor circuit-breakers. The rated current In of the motor to be protected is set on the setting scale. Factory setting of the short-circuit release is 13 times the rated current of the circuit-breaker. This permits trouble-free start-up and ensures that the motor is properly protected.
The phase failure sensitivity of the circuit-breaker ensures that it is tripped in time in the event of a phase failure and overcurrents that occur as a result in the other phases.
Circuit-breakers with thermal overload releases are normally designed in accordance with trip class 10 (CLASS 10). Circuitbreakers of sizes S2 and S3 are also available in class 20 (CLASS 20) and therefore allow motors to be started up under arduous conditions.
Motor protection with overload relay function (automatic reset)
Circuit-breakers for motor protection with overload relay function are designed for the protection of three-phase induction motors.
They are equipped with the same short-circuit release and overload release as circuit-breakers for motor protection without overload relay function. The circuit-breaker always remains closed in the event of an overload. The overload release activates only two auxiliary contacts (1 NO + 1 NC). The overload trip can be signaled to a higher-level control with the help of these auxiliary contacts.
Generally, it is also possible to open a downstream contactor directly.
The overload signal is reset automatically. The circuit-breaker itself only trips if a short-circuit occurs downstream.
The 3RV10/3RV11 circuit-breakers for motor protection are also suitable for plant protection.
In order to prevent premature tripping due to phase failure sensitivity, the three conducting paths must always be uniformly loaded. The conducting paths must be connected in series in the case of single-phase loads.

3KM switch disconnectors with fuses protect against overload and short-circuits as main control and EMERGENCY STOP switches of switch boards, distribution boards, power supply and motor outgoing feeders. In conjunction with Siemens SITOR semiconductor fuses, they are also used in UPS systems, frequency converters and capacitor control systems.
All 3K switch disconnectors are climate-proof and meet the requirements of IEC 60947-1, IEC 60947-3 and VDE 0660 Part 107.

The Siemens solid-state overload relays up to 630 A with internal power supply have been designed for current-dependent protection of loads with normal and heavy starting (see Functions) against excessive temperature rises due to overload, phase unbalance or phase failure.
An overload, phase unbalance or phase failure result in an increase of the motor current beyond the set motor rated current. This current rise is detected by the current transformers integrated into the devices and evaluated by corresponding solid-state circuits which then output a pulse to the auxiliary contacts. The auxiliary contacts then switch off the load by means of a contactor. The break time depends on the ratio between the tripping current and operating current and is stored in the form of a long-term stable tripping characteristic (see Characteristics). The "tripped" status is signaled by means of a switch position indicator (see Functions). The contactor is either reset manually or automatically (see Functions) after the recovery time has elapsed (see Functions).
The devices are manufactured in accordance with environmental guidelines and contain environmentally friendly and recyclable materials. They comply with important worldwide standards and approvals.

The SENTRON PAC3200 power monitoring device can be employed in both industrial applications and functional buildings, wherever electric power is consumed. The compact and powerful device detects all consumption data in a very precise and reliable manner and makes the power flows of an electrical system transparent.
To further measure data processing, the SENTRON PAC3200 can be easily connected to superior automation and power management systems – including to our modular SIMATIC powercontrol power management software.
Power measuring with SENTRON PAC3200
The SENTRON PAC3200 power monitoring device detects the values for active, reactive and apparent power per phase and overall system, both in high and low tariff. It measures ratings and power values via the four quadrants, i.e. power import and export are measured separately.
The SENTRON PAC3200 also allows for the determination of the power demand per measuring period, which can be set in a range from 1 to 60 minutes. Typically, the power consumption over the previous 15-minute time frame is continuously measured here.

Equipped with modern, ergonomic user prompting the SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters can be commissioned quickly and easily using a keypad and a menu-prompted, multi-line display with background lighting. The optimized motor ramp-up and ramp-down can be effected quickly, easily and reliably by means of just a few settings with a selectable language.
Four-button operation and plain-text displays for each menu point guarantee full clarity at every moment of the parameterization and operation. During operation and when control voltage is applied, the front panel continuously presents measured values and operating values as well as warnings and fault messages. An external display and operator module can be connected by means of a connection cable to the soft starter, thus enabling active indications and the like to be read directly from the control cabinet door.
The SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters are equipped with optimum functionality. An integral bypass contact system reduces the power loss of the soft starter during operation. This reliably prevents heating of the switchgear environment.
The SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters have internal intrinsic device protection. This prevents thermal overloading of the power section's thyristors, e.g. due to unacceptably high closing operations. Wiring outlay for installing an additional motor overload relay is no longer needed as the SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters perform this function too. In addition they offer adjustable trip classes and a thermistor motor protection function. As an option the thyristors can also be protected by SITOR semiconductor fuses from short-circuiting. And even inrush current peaks are reliably avoided thanks to adjustable current limiting.
As a further option the SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters can be upgraded with a PROFIBUS DP module. Thanks to their communication capability and their programmable control inputs and relay outputs the SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters can be very easily and quickly integrated in higher-level control system.
In addition a creep speed function is available for positioning and setting jobs. With this function the motor can be controlled in both directions of rotation with reduced torque and an adjustable, low speed.
On the other hand the SIRIUS 3RW44 soft starters offer a new, combined DC braking function for the fast stopping of driving loads.

Leine & Linde is the first manufacturer of incremental encoders a component commonly used in drive systems that was able to certify rotary incremental encoders in the 841-series according to the new international IECEx directive. An Ex area can be known by different names such as “Hazardous Locations”, “Hazardous Areas”, “Explosive Atmospheres”, and the like and relate to areas where flammable liquids, vapors, gases or combustible dusts are likely to occur in quantities sufficient to cause a fire or explosion.
A “three-zone model” in many countries, including those of the European Union, characterizes potentially explosive areas. This model is defined by zone 2 indicating an area in which there is rarely an explosive atmosphere, zone 1 indicating an area in which there are sometimes explosive atmospheres, and zone 0 for an area in which there is always or frequently an explosive atmosphere. The robust and versatile 841-series encoders manufactured by Leine & Linde have been approved for zone 1 with a f lameproof enclosure “d” type of protection. Some commonly classified Ex areas where encoders are used can be found in: Automotive refueling stations or petrol stations, oil refineries, rigs and processing plants, chemical processing plants Printing industries, paper and textiles, Hospital operating theatres, Aircraft refueling and hangars, Surface coating industrie, woodworking areas, sugar refineries, metal surface grinding, especially aluminum dusts and particles.
Because many Leine & Linde customers are operating systems in such areas all over the world, the company has been striving for and has received certification according to the new global standards, IECEx.
